Usually my rule of thumb is that if I pick 3 or more looks from a show, then I dedicate it its own post. In Paris, the designers are just better, haha (no really), and also some of them show significantly more looks. So I find myself picking 3 looks often but not being particularly blown away by the collection as a whole. (Does this make sense?) That being said, here are more Paris shows.
1. Giambattista Valli:
Actually, this was a nice collection. Sweet details, bold contrast, beautiful silhouettes. The first dress is here only because I love that design on top. The dress is SO soft and ladylike, and then that bold graphic brings it back down. Lately I'm really into simple shapes. Nothing can be simpler than this. I'm also a huge fan of white shoes because they're so obnoxious and I'm a double fan of black tights with white shoes (double the obnoxious!) This has my name all over it. The second dress is kind of monastic but I find it beautiful in its austereness. The white, ruffled underlayer becomes such a focus point, that I feel dirty looking at it. How can it be sexy? I don't know, it just is. The yellow shoes just punctuate a truly beautiful study in shape and volume.
2. Rue du Mail:
Martine Sitbon is back!
Beautifully round, architectural draping, smart modern dressing. (Not a real sentence but you know what I mean).
3. Sonia Rykiel:
The first dress is slutty, right? No. It's not. You're wrong. I don't know how this happened. But there's something supremely cool about it. The big underwear (that I L-O-V-E) and the thigh highs under that lace looks so awesome! I'd totally just add some lining to that top part and rock it. Ah, I love it! And pink patent shoes? BRILLIANT! The second dress is just sparkly and kinda goth, so who wouldn't love it?
4. Costume National:
The perfect little red dress. Sleek, sexy and just enough weird to turn people's heads.
