Paris Spring 08: Balenciaga

I always look forward to seeing what Nicholas Ghesquiere conjures at Balenciaga every season. He transforms women, designs with a vision, and somehow manages to create absolutely beautiful, avant-garde yet wearable clothes. After last season's multi-cultural kick, he presented us with a garden. I'm not one to like flower prints very much, but these are so bright and bold that they are almost mocking the thought of flower prints as feminine and demure. Of course, his silhouette (strong shoulders and hips, short skirts, narrow pants) only served to reinforce the notion that the Balenciaga woman is an urban warrior. I can't wait until the day I can wear his clothes.
