Paris Fall 08 VII

1. Sonia Rykiel:

Love this coat but am terrified by Masha Tyelna's face. It's perfect to wash away the winter blahs when that February bad weather begins to swoosh through the city.

I'm a sucker for easy dresses, it's true. I also love the huge platforms all the models wore at this show, but those are the kinds of shoes I can never wear because I feel self conscious. The tights shown were also super cool, in most all the variations used. I love this faux thigh-high ones.

Sometimes I just want to be the perfect bohemian queen. This would be the easiest way to achieve that.

2. Junya Watanabe:

I'm sure there's going to be lots of talks of the "covered face" this season, but I'm not going to focus on that right now. I will focus on the perfect grey jersey dress under it. I can't imagine anything more chic or easy to wear.

I am obviously ignoring the ill-fitting "pants" to focus on the coolest jacket ever. I could see someone like Carine Roitfeld wearing this with wide leg trousers or maybe someone like Anna Dello Russo wearing it with a short skirt and killer heels. I'm obsessed with it.

3. John Galliano:

The most breathtaking, devastatingly beautiful coat ever. I can't even imagine how one must feel when wearing something so perfect.

Very vintage lingerie-inspired. The combination of royal blue and gold is exactly en pointe. This dress is so delicate looking it could almost be an heirloom. Can't you see the black and white flashbacks that would feature this dress?

4. Giambattista Valli:

This season, Valli is the king of the easy to wear, always chic, secretly sexy dress. I would be happy to have any of these in my closet.

5. Nina Ricci:

You guys, this is it. This is the only look I am including from the Nina Ricci fall collection. This is so crazy! I am usually passing out from all the beauty in Olivier's shows, but this season I was completely underwhelmed and unimpressed. This sucks. I look forward to this show all season. Alright, now I will stop whining about it. This dress is really awesome. I love the shade of mustard yellow and the subtle details at the waist and hem that give this simple dress some va va voom.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for next season.

Totally agree with you. I am usually bowled over by Olivier's amazing gowns; this collection didn't do anything for me. On to the next season...
