Oh, you shouldn't have...
Let's talk about the August issue of Vogue shall we? Kate Moss is on the cover. Awesome, I am super psyched that it's not Gwyneth or Angelina or Nicole Kidman (although I found out Keira is on the cover for September? COME ON GUYS, GIVE ME SOME MODELS! VOGUE ITALIA PUTS ALL THE BLACK MODELS ON THE COVER AND YOU GIVE ME KEIRA? errm... sorry, just had to get that out of my chest). So apart from Kate being on the cover and that being all sorts of fabulous, the real magic is inside. In what has to be one of my favorite editorials ever (and perhaps nicked from Carine's homage to Anna in Vogue Paris a few months ago), they had Vogue editors, like Grace Coddington, Tonne Goodman and Marie-Amelie Sauve, style models in their own "style". Now, I love Grace Coddington. Love Love Love. (She also holds my dream job) and Karen Elson playing Grace Coddington, complete with medieval hairline and cats is just the best birthday present* ever.
Tanya Dziahileva does a cool Tonne Goodman in signature white jeans and ridiculously long and sleek blonde hair. I love Tonne, she just seems so relaxed and awesome and fuss-free. If you need further proof of her awesomeness, please refer to this image of her, along with the other editors that were part of this spread, at the Costume Institute Met Ball. Intense right?
Raquel Zimmerman channels Marie-Amelie Sauve in this totally ridiculous (obviously good ridiculous) Maison Martin Margiela pant leg dress. Yes, you read that right. It's a pant leg! AAAH! And she's so right, wearing this dress with the coolest pair of men's oxfords is exactly the right thing to do. I also really want an oversized necklace to wear at all times.
And then there's Sasha, channeling Elissa Santisi and shot by Inez and Vinoodh (my favorites). I am obsessed with Sasha's hair in this picture and I want mine to look exactly like it. I am also not really into animal prints, but I'll be damned if I don't think this is luxuriously sexy. LEATHER GLOVES??? FUR STOLE!!! AHH.
Well played Anna, well played.
*Birthday present, you ask yourself? : My birthday is in August and ever since I was a little girl I always got extra psyched about a really good August issue because I thought that it was like a gift from the magazine editors to me (hahahaha why am I telling you this?), and although I don't feel that way anymore, a good August issue will always make me smile. I would be so bummed if my birthday was in June, haha.
