I am a big fan of things that look/act like other things so this new trend of dresses that look like separates is right up my alley. I love the combination of shapes in the Alexander Wang version above, with a slouchy blouse being "tucked in" a straight, slightly 90's-by-way-of-Tom Ford-for-Gucci black wrap skirt. I would never wear it with those sandals though.
Phillip Lim's interpretation of the 2-for-1 look is bit dressier but nonetheless cool. I love his mix of colors and materials and both pieces feel very NOW (for more evidence of this see pleats at Lanvin and lace at Prada).
I fell in love with this Marc Jacobs look when it hit the runway, but never in my wildest dreams could I imagine that it was actually a dress. I still don't know why I'm so attracted to this dress, but there's something about how sober and conservative it is that just makes me swoon.
And just in case you really want to jump in on this now, this Alexander Wang dress is currently on sale at Shopbop.
