Paris Fall 09: Maison Martin Margiela
Maison Martin Margiela's offerings for fall were right on point. It was so wearable and full of crazy pieces that you could add to your regular wardrobe for a lil' dash of future rad into your present normie wardrobe. The beginning of the show had four models wearing these crazy clear shoulder/black bra strap contraptions that were totally insane and awesome. Then the real show began with these incredible drapey asymmetric pieces. The perfectly squared shoulders and weirdo mullet-tops made me go OMG out loud and everything. I am really into the one pant-leg one hot pant-leg thing he's been doing, and over the past few months I have been mustering up the courage to diy a pair like that and then ACTUALLY wear it out in the real world.
The green leather pieces were my favorite in the show by far. I love the jacket with one crazy square border sleeve, I want to cast crazy shadows in the winter sun while wearing it. The second one with the perfectly draped hood is also fantastic. Hunter green will for sure be a great color for fall and I am already planning on getting an awesome pair of boots in that color.
The show ended with a series of girls enveloped in sheer polka dotted outfits that I'm wanting like a madwoman! And since they were worn with skin colored bodysuits under it, they were able to create exaggerated shoulder lines that made the models seem superhuman.
As for the last look? I would LOVE to get married in it. Man, this season has been so slow that I don't think I had made wedding dress declarations so far! Hahaha. Seriously though, I loved everything about this show. Fuckin ACES.
