NYC Spring 2010: Cushnie et Ochs

For spring, Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs expanded on the look established for last season. This meant a lot of cutouts, body conscious looks and razor-sharp tailoring. This dress is dangerous for sure, I mean it's shiny, short and has a petal-shaped cut-out across the chest and YET I think it's great. I would totally layer it over a long sleeve tee, chunky tights and crazy wedges and just wear it out right now.

I'm mesmerized by the beautiful curvilinear shapes that they use in the most unassuming way. The top is just a simple black tank, but the scalloped neckline really makes it special. Super tight pants with sheer insets on the side are also super cool, and while it takes a specific kind of gal to pull these off, if you layer them under long tees and dresses, you just got a universal cool.

How beautiful is this mint color used in their collection? I just want all of these. Monochromatic outfits are always good and that semi-sheer shirt tucked into the shorts is just the perfect combination of casual and playfully sexy.

More minty goodness!

Apart from all the body-con looks there were also futuristic princess dresses. The slightest hint of Balenciaga infused in a modern feeling that is all their own.

And knits! Yes, knits! This long sweater dress with a geometric intarsia pattern is too good to be true. This is the kind of thing you wear to your fancy dinner at the beach after a day in the sun, when you're perfectly tanned and feeling more relaxed than you ever thought possible. The model already has wet, slick-backed hair so you know I'm totally right about this one.
