When it comes to shoes, Marni never ever disappoints. You can take the white malarky off, but WHY WOULD YOU? These shoes look almost costume-y, but I guess that's sort of the point? LOVE LOVE LOVE.

The $25-ish Sale!

So I'm currently in the throes of getting rid of MOST of my clothes. Now, I always end up taking them to Beacon's and getting like 5 cents a piece so I figured I'd just offer it to you guys for cheap. I used to work at Tibi and got a hefty clothing allowance. I don't work there anymore and thus have no use for some of the clothes anymore so here they are. My 25th birthday is next week and I would like to maybe get those crazy Wang shoes. Any bit helps :)

Guinevere

Nobody does a woodland nymph like Guinevere Van Seenus. This editorial in August's issue of W is one of my favorites so far this year. The setting is amazing and the clothes really achieve an otherworldy quality. I doubt I'll see the Nina Ricci death wedge look this magical anywhere else.

Sunday Jam: Liars mini-movie

Liars : We Fenced Other Gardens with the Bones of Our Own

Liars are probably one of my top 5 favorite bands of all time. All of their records are insanely good in really different ways. This song is from their second record "They were wrong, so we drowned", which had a "loose" concept of witches. I've seen them live three times and each time they have been AMAZING.

I also love them because they have the best song/album titles EVER.
Dig it, kids!

When I'm not sure what I'm living for...

When I'm not sure what I'm looking for...

I think I love them.
Birthday in two weeks.
Happy 25th?
Yea or Nay?

Ps. I apparently love Alexander Wang now.

The New Vionnet

This is the first collection for the label under new designer Rodolfo Paglialunga. He is the third designer in two years, after Sophia Kokosalaki and Marc Audibet. Paglialunga created a resort collection that was dramatic and sensual with a hint of humor. It's definitely one of my favorites for resort.

This is such a sensual dress! Its the perfect shade of red and the fabric falls so beautifully in the back. Radical warriorwoman jewelry too...

"Yeah, I farted in a Vionnet dress, JEALOUS? It's awesome even though it has a crazy figure skater bodice and an even crazier pirate wench bottom and I'm rockin' it with ONE LEG!"

This is kinda weird and funky, right? I love the playful print on the sheer black fabric. Funnily seductive? Maybe.

This is so fun! It's kind of formal at the top and bird-like at the bottom! I know the whole point of this is to be kind of a "naked dress", which I'm usually all for, but for some reason I want to see this layered over black tights and a leather bra. So.wicked.

ABSOLUTELY.FLAWLESS.

Crazy Botticelli Babe gown. WITH A HOOD! love love love.

Far out, Maaaaaan

Fall Prada looks get a little upgrade in the lookbook with doodles, collages and all sorts of awesome things. Wish I could get my hands on a copy... I want some of these up on my wall.

Sunday Jam: Kinda Moody

Placebo - Pure Morning

This whole record, Without you I'm Nothing, is totally perfect. I was OBSESSED with it in high school and I'm psyched to report that it still holds up.
I actually don't have to go to work today so I'm going to spend some time outside.

Sunny-side Up

Yellow socks with Demeulemeester white sandals.
It's giving me a toothache.
(It's an expression! It means he thought you were sweet!)

Topshop Fall 09

These boots are kinda Rodarte-ish no? Totally awesome.

Ok, so I realize that this look is probably very inspired by Chloe and I've certainly made it clear here that I DO NOT dig the current Chloe look under McGibbon, BUT, I really like this? Obviously without the headband, what is up with those anyways? It's very middle school talent show catalog-bought costumes. The shirt is super rad.

Isn't this jacket-dress totally YSL-ish EPIC?

Yeah, this is bananas, but why not? The sequin t-shirt is perfect!

Fall 09 Couture: Valentino

This was the second Couture collection from Pier Paolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri (I promise I will learn those names in due time!) for Valentino, and while other people seemed to really dislike it *cough*CathyHoryn*cough*, I LOVED it. See, it's not that it was a magnificent collection the way that, I don't know, Mcqueen or Galliano can have a magnificent collection; it's just that it was filled with awesome things that I wish I could wear. At the end of the day, isn't that what matters? I think PPP and MGC managed to inject wearable clothes with some Couture drama and fantasy. The clothes were romantic and sexy and a little bit dangerous, and I think this is a very good step for these two.

.
The collection was mostly black, which is definitely a departure from their offerings last season and, from the Valentino spirit in general (no red dress!), but it's just a very modern, bold approach. Everyone loves a little black dress, after all, so why not offer it in a gajillion different ways? The sheer layering here in the first look is fantastic; pleats over floral lace, and you can still see a bit of skin. So alluring! The nude satin pumps with oversized black bows in the back are the perfect companion to the dress because they are so fun, and they take away a bit of the serious SEXY going on at the top

I am, of course, still crusading for NUDE DRESSING and this blouse made my heart skip about 55 beats. It's insanely lady-like and I love it paired with the quasi-rock-n-roll patchwork skirt, which, btw, would be the perfect companion to a plain white tee.

A serious dose of glamour, it's kinda retro in its over-the-top-ness, but whatever dude, it is too good to just hide away. I would love to have a crazy embellished coat to throw on on the days where I'm feeling like a poopbucket. Best lil' pick me up ever.

Ruffles are an essential part of Couture, and I always love when designers bring it around the neck and frame the face with them. It's a very "royal" thing to do. My favorite part of this look is that you can see where all the darts and tucks are in the bodice. It's such a cool, functional graphic detail.

Yes! Simple satin shift with weirdo Stegosaurus ruffle. Can this stuff please trickle down to the "regular people" clothes? I want to wear this. I want to wear this EVERY.DAY.

Ooh, and just when you think you know everything that's coming out, you get a little slinky, swingy metallic number. I'm sure Gwyneth Paltrow already has it on hold for her next red carpet venture.

A long nude dress. Sigh. It reminds me of one of my favorite dresses ever, a pink strapless chiffon gown that Donna Karan did for Spring 99. I just spent like 20 minutes trying to find it, in vain. (For you Sex & the City people, it's the dress that Carrie wears when she writes that cheesy poem for her friends' wedding. I couldn't even find a picture of her wearing it, which I figured would be easier than finding the Karan runway pic. Oh well.

Mystery! Drama! Feathers! Valentino!

This is PPP and MGC. Bravo dudes!

Towelies!

The real stuff is WAY out of my league, but these towels by Ed Ruscha and Raymond Pettibon for Art Production Fund, are the perfect thing to bring a little high culture into your regular real life. I rarely go to the beach (I miss you Puerto Rico!), but I think it's totally acceptable to go a little "dorm room" with these and hang them on your wall. I think I want one for my wall and one for my bed? Decisions, decisions!
