Sunday Jam: Ok, this one's good

Yeah Yeah Yeahs : Zero

I still don't care for the YYY's last two records, but this song is all kinds of awesome.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Vamos a jugar en la playa

Derek Lam Spring 2010

Missoni Spring 2009

Prada Spring 2001

Derek Lam joins the ranks of some of my favorite ad campaigns ever. I love the slightly ominous/Hitchcock-ian feel of his image.

I have too much stuff

I'm doing ANOTHER purge because I am going insane. I'll probably be posting some more stuff in the next few days, but I'll probably have an even bigger pile to take to Beacon's. My goal is to fit all my clothes on a small rack (as opposed to 4 drawers, one and a half closet railing where things are hung 3 to a hanger and about 3 big piles in different parts of my room.
YIKES!

Loeffler Randall Metallic Leather Jacket Sz 4 $115
Super rad. 3/4 sleeve with elastic, made for scrunchin', if you know what I mean. It has killer Michael Jackson-like wing-things at the shoulders. Zip front, two front pockets. As seen here!

Tibi Sheer Striped Dress Sz 0 $30
GONE!
Cool vaguely Chanel-esque dress made in sheer black striped fabric. Drop waist with a little peplum skirt. Bodice is fully lined, sleeves are sheer.

Tibi Mint Green Cape Sz XS $60
GONE!
Super cute cape. Hidden snap closures at the front. Fully lined.

Thanks dudes!
As always, free shipping within the US. I do ship international, cost depends on where you live of course! I'm open to other offers as well.

Sunday Jam: forget it, Forget It, FORGET IT!

Elastica : Connection

#1 Hell Yes. This record is so perfect for right now I think. Will go on my ipod rotation.
#2 Shoutout to my beloved 120 minutes.

Mud People

Totally obsessed with this image from The Row's spring lookbook. Ursula Konina (who I posted over at laia.thepop.com a couple days ago) has a killer androgynous look and pulls off this nature-hippie-90's look effortlessly.

Who knew mud and reverse-ish fit jeans could be so sexy?

Groove is (not) in the heart

I cannot believe this getup.

Awful pageant hair + American Apparel-ish bandeau top + VEST + high waist cameltoe-inducing multi color leggings + BROWN BELT + satin bi-color scrunchy socks + Proenza Schouler boots (which sadly could not save this outfit)

I am certain Michelle Trachtenberg is laughing because she cannot believe it either.

I get really tired of seeing Blake Lively everywhere and I always wondered by Leighton was so ignored by everyone.
But now I know.
Actress-turned-singer barely ever works.

Ps. Lady Miss Kier did it better.

What's next, sheer knee highs? Duly noted.

Julie Gilhart and Amanda Brooks at the CFDA awards.

You know it's for real because they wore it at the same event

Sunday Jam: Feelin' It

Arthur Russell - Get around to it

Perfect kickin' it vibes all around.

Spring 2010 Shoe Report

Epic post ahead!

We start out slow, but funky with beautiful polka-dotted sandals from Tabitha Simmons. I love all the different fabrics, and would surely pair them with wildly printed socks.

I know these totally have a current season Balenciaga vibe, but these Vionnet ribbon wrap sandals are just too fun (though I'm pretending they're not thong sandals-no thank you).

You've seen these Miu Miu before and I'm sure you'll see them again. Although my heart is lusting for the cat-printed mary janes, there is something really great about a redundant bejeweled bird applique on a bird print.

The Alexander Wang shoes that will be inevitably ripped off in the coming months. I'm not usually a fan of animal prints but this is just so well done. The "geometric patchwork" effect is totally from the future.

I was surprised to see that for spring, Dries Van Noten more or less re-did their awesome shoe from this fall. I loved that shoe from fall so I DEFINITELY don't have a problem with seeing it in all new prints. The colors in this one are so bright and the different textures are killer.

The perfect snakeskin pump by Alejandro Ingelmo.

Ok, it's pretty clear that I'm really digging the snakeskin lately. These Donna Karan nude mega platforms are so insane they're kinda grotesque, but I can just imagine them anchoring any outfit magnificently.
(I'm thinking perfect button-down shirt, chunky knits, slouchy ankle jeans and black socks)

The brogue meets ballet shoe pop art slingback by Manolo Blahnik.
I love the stark lines.

SAY WHAAAT? Raffia cap toe lace ups by Dries Van Noten! The curved heel is so insanely sexy.
Total must-have.

Chunky.
Oversized Studs.
PERFECT COLOR BLUE.
Hermés.

I'm kinda obsessed with these Proenza Schouler peeps to be honest. The "surfboard wedge" is really speaking to a special place in my heart.
Perfect shot of neon yellow on woodgrain!

And speaking of woodgrain, these Donna Karan beige leather wedges are totally crazy! They have a weird 90's quasi sporty spice feeling that's really working for me.

Alexander Wang's double-layer zipper peel-away sandals are totally epic.
I hope he really does make a flat version of them (as seen on Courtney Love's feet).

These Derek Lam high-heeled oxfords with cutouts have a subtly killer color palette. I love the thick ankle-ribbon detail.

90's minimalist (orthopedic chic), Calvin Klein.

The Alexander McQueen lobster claw shoes are everywhere, and their epic-ness is well documented, but this ultra-high robot ballerina stripper pump is totally next level.
(Helmut Newton would've loved these).

Georgia O'Keeffe via Manolo Blahnik.

Cher Horowitz would own these Miu Miu mary-janes in ever single color combination.
(Amber would probably wear Balmain).

The most perfect brogues by Nicholas Kirkwood.
NEED NEED NEED NOW!

The one where I try to figure out what Carine-sans-pants means for womankind

On the one hand, here is a woman, 55 years of age* wearing a completely sheer lace dress over a strapless satin leotard with over-the-knee lace-up boots.

But then of course, it's Carine.

Co-nun-drum.

* I debated whether or not to include her age, but in the end decided it was necessary. On her it doesn't matter (ageless is sexy!) but on average woman Jane Doe it ends up being the main point (cougar fashion!).

11.09.2009

In a couple of years, this will not be held in the same light as her naked pregnant VF cover

I bet the kids over at W must be pretty proud of themselves for being the first!!1!1! ones to feature THE Balmain dress (and on the cover!).

Yes, THE Balmain dress that perfectly captures the un-ironically-tacky stuff that Cristophe Decarnin sent down the runway. I'm still in total disbelief that the fashion establishment is totally behind his look, and Style.com even went so far as to give the collection the #2 slot in their Spring 2010 Top 10.
Oh, well.

Also I love that they put Demi Moore in a dress that's all about showcasing hipbones and then they go and Photoshop hers out of existence.

Buffalo Buffalo Buffalo

The new issue of Arena Homme + is dedicated to Ray Petri and the Buffalo movement. It is most, most excellent. Here are some of my favorite shots although I left the best ones in the magazine so that you would be surprised and delighted when you saw it in real life.

The issue has an alternate cover with Chuck Bass on it, but obvz this one is way more epic.
And a random thought, don't you think that Jack Negrit (the guy on the cover), looks a bit like Eddie Izzard? Is that a sacrilegious thought?

Totally killer editorial shot by Jamie Morgan* featuring assorted family members of the original Buffalo kids styled by Barry Kamen and Mitzi Lorenz. SO, SO epic.

*who I totally interviewed a few months ago. check it out at my POP blog!

Another awesome editorial shot in Williamsburg (Brooklyn). I've been round there a bunch, but I ain't ever seen such fine young gentlemen roaming around its parts.

I don't really know what's going on in this editorial AT ALL, but it's so totally bananas that I can't help but love it.

I'm totally OBSESSED with these two pictures. Well, the whole thing is brilliant really; "The Black Cowboys of New York". The name really does says it all.

#1 Must Have, for sure.
