NYC Fall 2010: Cushnie et Ochs

This was only Cushnie et Ochs' fourth collection, but already they have become one of my new favorites |Full disclosure: for a few months now I have been working as an assistant to a stylist, who among other things, does the Cushnie et Ochs show. Thus, I got to be in the studio for the days leading up to the show helping her and it was totally rad|. Their fall show was dark and seductive with super lush textures and sensual silhouettes. The first look in the show was this beautiful wool shift dress, unfortunately you can't see the best part, the center panel on the back of the dress is actually ponyskin. It's almost too lush for words. The molded leather turban/beanies were by Albertus Swanepoel and I've been dreaming with them ever since I first laid eyes on them.

The molded jacket in this suit is totally otherworldly. It such a beautiful shape that somehow still manages to lend an air of power and control.

The padded leather skirt is insane, equal parts radical and futuristic. The real gem here is the back of the two-tone sheer blouse, where the sheer part creates a faux scoop-back (aka the classic "sometimes you have to show a little skin. This reminds boys of being naked, and then they think of sex!").

This was definitely one of my favorite looks in the show. The short drapey-jersey skirt is almost scandalous, but when you pair is with a knit-mesh sweater and a gynormous cozy zip-up sweater with fur arms and a bare leg, it drips too much attitude to incite any other feelings.
I would LIVE in this sweater, btw.

The slit has become kind of like a signature for them, and it looks too killer on a pencil pony skir, especially when its paired with a soft, silk blouse.

This little knit dress is deceptively simple. Lace at the top and a bit of shredded madness in the middle, but when you put it on, its totally transformed. The dress just exudes cool.
Total spring ESSENTIAL.

Bejeweled futuristic top. (Weighs a ton, but looks amazing so whocares?)
Gloves with spikes are definitely next level.

This was also my most favorite look in the show, the ponyskin was just calling my name it seems. But you can't deny that all these textures aren't making you weak at the knees either. This is the epitome of cool luxury. The beaded leather leggings add another level of texture and of course, tough chic.

That jersey skirt looks suspiciously similar to one by Arnsdorf, which half of Melbourne has been living in for the past year or so...

The sparkly top is beautiful. I keep hearing good things about this brand - not bc they have some powerhouse PR team, but bc critics really like them.
