Confusion is Miu Miu

Allegedly Miuccia was super inspired by Yves Saint Laurent for her resort collection, but I think it's pretty obvious that she had just finished looking through the Sonia Rykiel archives. I mean it's so ridiculously Rykiel that I almost can't believe it's the real collection.

That being said, I'm still needing the printed wide-leg trousers and the striped shirt and skirt ensembles.

Weird though, right?

i don't really feel Miu Miu in this. it's too sweet, too lovely, too happy, too teenager-ish. i mean, the clothes itself are great (little boring though), but the styling just kills the Miu Miu spirit.

I dig Miu Miu pretty much ALL OF THE TIME, but this is unoriginal and thus, a bit boring. Not to say that I would love to own that baby pink striped tank...

looks exactly like Rykiel, down to the hair! I still love it though

Before reading the caption, I thought you had found some Sonia Rykiel picturs. It's so not like Prada. I still remember when i was... what? maybe 7-8 years old and apple prints were all the rage. I had socks, shirts, skirts and a even a purse (which was brown and kaki and totally matched my Brownie outfit.)
I'm not sure it will catch on, at least with the more adult crowd.

Your analysis is fantastic.

I think Muccia has been (it hurts to say) lazy this collection. Miu Miu has received landslides of attention since her SS10 show which pushed the "teenage factor," I mean her Fall 2009 with all the fur and fuzzy hair, nobody talked about it. So she's realized it's a hit and now keeps going with it. And eventhough I still love all of this, if she's gonna be lazy in my opinion she can save up her design geniusness, forget resort and just design an insane SS11 collection.

That was THE FIRST thing I thought as soon as I saw this collection. Saint Laurent, yes, Sonia Rykiel, DEFINITELY! So confusing, it almost looks TOO Rykiel and not enough Miu Miu. Ah well I still like it, want one of those long skirts.
