Everything's comin' up Marni

Super classic-Marni vibez at the label for pre-fall. It seems that no matter how much Consuelo experiments at the spring and fall shows every year, her pre-collections always come back to the tried-and-true aesthetic. Loads of socks and mis-matched prints and wooden heeled shoes (that although I love, they honestly look like re-runs of shoes from previous collections). As much as I love Jil Sander and secretly wish I could be a minimalist queen, my heart always gravitates towards matching prints in different colors and the subtle balls-y-ness that comes with borderline clown dressing and still looking sophisticated.

Ok so maybe this isn't 100% sophisticated but sowhatwhocares? It's totally like "oh shit I gotta go to the bodega to pick up coffee, meh, I don't feel like changing pants so I'm just gonna keep my heart-print pajama pants and this button-down shirt that I wore to go out last night and was too lazy to change out of it when I went to bed". The white fur and the late 90's platform sandals just turn it all into magic.

I saved the best for last though. This is like the best "sweatsuit" (I doubt it's even made from sweatsuit material but I'm calling it that anyways) EVER. I would wear this every.single.day.
Or at least the pants, definitely the pants.

I love Marni. It's always presented as being really extreme, but in pieces it's beautiful and practical.

Oh the sweatsuit, it totally rocks!! I'm with you, that could be my wardrobe basic. Maybe you'd like to read a piece I just wrote about looking sporty in the RTW SS11 collections. It's here:

I guess I'm not ballsy enough to risk myself on the reaches of clowny-yet-sophisticated, but the pajama+dress shirt and bow+platform+faux fur definitely does magic.
Thanks for unearthing these very cool looks.
Oh btw, I just love your blog. You really have a voice, and it's not that common. Keep it up, baby.
